Writer, Corey Abney tells us
“Fall is my favorite time of year-the cool mornings, the comfortable days, and the color in the tress. Many people plan trips just to see the unique beauty of changing leaves and the explosion of color they bring. For many years, I thought this kaleidoscope of color was caused by cooling temperatures or shifts in weather patterns. But more recently, I learned that leaves change color-and eventually fall-because of the absence of light.”
Sorry to tell you this, Fall—but the colorful leaves are gone from the trees. The only leaves around here, are the one on the ground that need to be raked. Sounds like work to me. With luck, maybe we’ll get snow to cover them–out of sight–out of mind–well maybe.
This week the dark days and cooler temperatures were all the inspiration I needed to declare, “It’s time to bring out the winter decorations”
The colorful leaves, faux pumpkins and acorn garlands will be packed away until next September.
And so, the transformation from Fall to Winter has begun at
Green Valley’s Cottages
With Christmas music streaming on the tv, the Alpine trees, strands of lights, snowmen, jingling bells were awaken from their nine months rest in storage totes. And glitter, lots of glitter–scattering a trail of cheerfulness as I experiment with the placement of each object throughout the rooms of my Cottages.

One of my favorite things — is decorating the Cottages for each season.
And as our guests have told us, “I love the change of decor each season.”
and…”What a wonderful way to spend a few days before the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season overtakes us.”
We can’t guarantee Snow–but we do have Snowmen.
